The permanent magnet traction system of line 1 of Changsha Rail Transit has passed the pre-passenger assessment, becoming the first set of autonomous permanent magnet traction system with passenger service qualification in China, according to a news release today from Time Electric, a unit of CRRC Zhuzhou It started the permanent magnetic era of China\'s Urban Rail Transit.

The permanent magnet traction system of line 1 of Changsha Rail Transit has passed the pre-passenger assessment, becoming the first set of autonomous permanent magnet traction system with passenger service qualification in China, according to a news release today from Time Electric, a unit of CRRC Zhuzhou It started the permanent magnetic era of China's Urban Rail Transit.

The permanent magnet traction system train of Changsha Metro Line 1 is the first train in China with independent permanent magnet traction system, which is jointly developed by China Locomotive & Rolling Stock Corporation and Zhuzhou CRRC Times Electric Co., Ltd. in Changsha. The permanent magnet traction system was developed by the Zhuzhou CRRC Times Electric Co., Ltd.

At the beginning of 2015, the overall design of the train with permanent magnet traction system was completed. In March 2016, the train was officially put into trial operation on the main line. As of July 7,12,500 kilometers of the train have been tested for trouble-free operation.

The review was organized by the Technical Equipment Committee of the China Urban Rail Transit Association. After hearing reports from the research and development units, reviewing test reports and on-the-spot ride experiences, the review experts agreed that The permanent magnet traction system has the advantages of high power density, high efficiency and low noise.

This means that the permanent magnet traction technology has been successfully applied in the subway for the first time, and has opened up a new model for Urban Rail Transit in China. It is worth mentioning that the technology used in this project, all developed independently by Chinese enterprises, has significant social significance.

Compared with ordinary metro trains, the main difference between the permanent magnet traction system trains is that they are powered by more efficient and energy saving permanent magnet motors, which help achieve green travel, said Shang Jing, deputy general manager and Chief Engineer of Zhuzhou CRRC Times Electric Co., Ltd. Traction Electric drive system is the heart unit of power drive in Rail Transit Vehicles, and its performance to some extent determines the power quality, energy consumption and control performance of rail transit vehicles It is one of the core systems of rail transit vehicles.

The energy consumption of the traction system is about 40%-50% of the total energy consumption of the rail transit system. The latest test results show that the trains with permanent magnet traction system are more efficient and have higher power density than those with traditional asynchronous traction system The traction energy consumption can be reduced by about 11.5% . If the regenerative energy of the traction system is taken into account, the comprehensive energy consumption of the permanent magnet traction system can be reduced to about 30% .

Peng Xufeng, the Party Secretary and Chairman of the Changsha Rail Transit Group Co. , calculated that the total power consumption of trains on the Changsha Line 2, for example, is about 37.21 million kwh per year If all the permanent magnet traction systems are adopted, the annual energy savings of the system would be 4.28 million kwh with only an 11.5% reduction in traction energy consumption. At a cost of 0.7 kwh per year, the operating cost of Changsha Rail Transit Line 2 would be saved by about 3 million kwh per year. Due to the higher regenerative efficiency of the permanent magnet traction system, more energy is fed back to the power grid. If fully absorbed and utilized, the comprehensive energy-saving effect of the train is better.

In recent years, the development of domestic urban rail transit has entered a golden age. According to the three-year action plan for major transport infrastructure projects, 103 new urban rail projects will be added in 2016-2018. The economic and social benefits will be huge if the trains on the new lines are all equipped with permanent magnet traction system.

As an advanced technology representing the core system of the train, the permanent magnet traction system is considered as the next generation traction system of the rail transit because of its features of higher efficiency and energy saving, lighter weight and lower life cycle cost.

At present, Alston, Bombardier and other foreign rolling stock factories have successfully used the permanent magnet traction system trains in France, Japan and other countries, and entered the stage of commercialization. China is one of the few countries in the world that master the technology of permanent magnet traction system and apply it in urban rail and high-speed railway.

As early as 2011, the Zhuzhou CRRC Times Electric Co., Ltd. completed the loading and testing of a single permanent magnet Traction motor on the Line 2, Shenyang Metro. During the 20-month-long test, more than 67,000 kilometers were run safely. The permanent magnet traction train of Changsha Rail Transit Line 1 is the first full-scale train in China to be loaded with permanent magnet traction system and put into operation to carry passengers.
